After getting off the stage, Al was trying to make his way towards the food tables in the back. He did expect to encounter people wanting to take pictures with him, or to obtain an autograph. The number of people and the amount of time they took, however, were longer than he expected. Or was it because he was kind of in a hurry to get to the back? Al was unsure. Nonetheless, Al kept his smile and handled the crowd with grace. Just when he was about done, a staff member tapped him on the arm, informing him that the corporate executives were asking for him.

1、时态误用
不少同学写作时过于匆忙，还没弄清文章的主体时态就下笔，导致时态误用，造成失分。面对不同的作文题材，我们应运用合适的时态。
例如，一般现在时多用于描述事物的`特性、用途或介绍某地的地理位置，人口等;一般过去时则多用于介绍人物生平经历、已经开展的调查、报告等;而一般将来时多用于尚未发生但准备开展的比赛或通知等。
2、缺乏“词汇美”
高级词汇使用恰当能把作文提升一个档次。作文中的高级词汇主要体现在动词和形容词的运用。
同学在平日可以对词义相近的单词进行归纳总结，例如， complete，fulfill，accomplish，achieve，四者都代表“完成”意思。写作文时，只需把简单词汇换成高级词汇就能让作文华丽“大变身”。
3、丢失“衔接美”
我们一般会在句首或句中增添一些连接词，使得上下文通顺连贯。当我们说起连接词时，相信大部分同学首先想到but，because，so这类简单连词。但在改卷过程中，老师更欣赏使用如on the contrary ，as the result of，owing to的连接短语。
其实这类连词或短语大家都背过不少，可是写作文时总忘记学以致用，把学过的连接词都忘记得一干二净。
4、忘记“句式美”
有的同学缺乏句型积累，所以通篇运用简单陈述句，句式平淡无味，很难吸引老师眼球。反之，如果同学们能适当运用复合句、强调句型、非谓语动词，或with的复合结构。文章的句式就会多变，内容描述会生动起来，分数也随之提高。
例如：This book was so interesting that I read it again and again.
这本书是如此的有趣，以致我读了一遍又一遍。
这是简单的so…that句型的句子，如果把句型换成：
So interesting was this book that I read it again and again.
该句从一般陈述句改成倒装句，会让老师眼前一亮。
