　　A man from the state of Chu was taking a boat across a river when he dropped his sword into the water carelessly.

　　楚国有一个人坐船渡江的`时候，他不小心把自己的一把宝剑掉落在江中。

　　Immediately he made a mark on the side of the boat where the sword dropped, hoping to find it later.

　　他马上掏出一把小刀，在宝剑落水的船舷上刻上一个记号。

　　When the boat stopped moving, he went into the water to search for his sword at the place where he had marked the boat.

　　船靠岸后，那楚人立即从船上刻记号的地方跳下水去捞取掉落的宝剑。

　　As we know, the boat had moved but the sword had not. Isn’t this a very foolish way to look for a sword?

　　今天，因为我的“丫网好友”铭铭参加了全国小星星杯英语大赛预赛，所以我也到比赛地点给铭铭加油。

　　我一路小跑，赶到比赛地点。一看，人山人海，除了参赛选手和他们的家长以外，其他都是停下来观看的过往人群。我在人丛（群）中挤来挤去，终于找到了铭铭和她的妈妈。我们一起来到了观看最佳（的'观看）位置，铭铭就去比赛台子左边准备上场了。

　　比赛开始了。第一个上场的选手非常紧张，眼睛看着地，怯生生的声音总是卡壳。第二个选手倒是大大方方的。不一会儿，就轮到铭铭就上场了。她表演的是首英语韵律歌。铭铭先介绍了一下她自己。她介绍时，眼睛看着地，但一会儿就发挥自如了。铭铭边唱歌边做各种既有趣又好玩的动作，唱呀跳呀，她载歌载舞，好像沉浸在了自己的歌声中了。她唱的这首歌很短，所以一会儿工夫就唱完了。接下来的选手的年龄越来越小，最小的才4岁。那个4岁的小女孩唱的是《London bridge》(伦敦桥)。上台时，因为脚够不着楼梯，所以被主持人抱上台子。这位小朋友好像有点胆小，但最终在老师鼓励下，天真可爱地唱完了整首歌。
